If you are looking for a great venue near Charlottesville, The Wool Factory makes a compelling case. Nestled in nature and near a riverwalk, the venue offers great photo locations all around. The venue itself has both an outdoor courtyard, perfect for ceremonies and cocktail hours, and a more modern indoor space made of concrete, brick, and glass. The combo of modern amenities and historic charm works seamlessly at every level.
Beryl & Julianne’s wedding was supposed to take place a year earlier - and in a modified way, it did. After circumstances forced Beryl and Julianne to change their original plans, they still had a small private gathering with just family. It was a beautiful and moving day - but not the full fantastic, intergalactic, and goofy launch they had dreamed up. (See the highlights here)
The full celebration took place a year later in Charlotteville, at the Wool Factory. I was fortunate to be at both celebrations! Beryl and Julianne are delightful cosplayers and gamers - as are their cast of friends! The couple rolled initiative (Dungeons & Dragons-style) to see who said her vows first and had a sword exchange during their first look. The sword exchange is a Norse tradition and represents Beryl’s Norwegian heritage. According to Beryl, it represents,
“Mainly the idea of the family passing protection of you to your spouse and future children. The swords were chosen with our families and then presented by the parents directly to their new daughter-in-law.”
For the rest, I will let the pictures speak for themselves. Beryl and Julianne are amazing humans, and I wish them all the love and laughter as they continue their journey together!
