Kat & Nick's Dubbel Dutch Hotel and The Atrium MKE Wedding!

Sneak Peek: Kat & Nick's wedding day started off in fabulous fashion at the Dubbel Dutch Hotel and never let up until the last dance at The Atrium! They wanted their wedding day to be fun, adventurous, and stress-free - all of which came true as everything turned out perfect!

Both Kat and Nick started their wedding day adventure at the Dubble Dutch Hotel. Milwaukee is full of treasures, but the historical DD hotel is certainly one of them. Merging modern comfort with old-world style - it is a peaceful and beautiful place to start your wedding day… and their beds are wonderful for jumping. Bonus - they are across the street from a lovely ivy wall that served well for Kat and Nick’s emotional first look, a fun Champagne toast, and some hilarious groomsmen shenanigans.

From there, we headed to the Quadracci Pavilion at the Milwaukee Art Museum (Most of MKE just calls it by the unofficial name: “the Calatrava”) for a few quick photographs before reconvening at Big Bend Park to take in the nature trails, gorgeous trees, and Lake-front scenes. Both Nick and Kat are athletic, so there was lots of twirling and running to keep the blood flowing and create some super fun memories as well.

And then it was time to make their promises at The Atrium. Sometimes people mistakenly think that having a “first look” makes the ceremony less emotional - but that hasn’t been my experience as a photographer at many weddings- and certainly was not the case for Nick and Kat. After making their vows, it was time for Cocktail hour up on The Atrium’s incredible rooftop garden, and then on to feasting and dancing the night away.

One of my favorite parts of the night was sneaking back up to the garden later in the evening with the couple while their guests were still dancing. Nick and Kat were up for anything and we capture some really great moments of dancing on the roof with the lights glowing around them.

Kat + Nick are lovely humans and wonderful to be with. I wish them all the love, laughter, and moments that matter together!
