💍 Their Walker’s Point Engagement Session

Bridget and Kevin’s rooftop wedding at The Atrium in Shorewood was the perfect blend of romance, fun, and sentiment. (Spoiler: It was fabulous!)

As a Milwaukee wedding photographer, I love when couples like Bridget and Kevin create a day that feels so personal and full of heart. They wanted their day to be fun, romantic, and sentimental - the sort of day that creates instant nostalgia. I often think about this sort of instant nostalgia and personal history when I photograph a wedding. In many ways, I am trying to capture and create something more like a location you can visit than a simple memory. Fun, romantic, and sentimental now and every time you relive and revisit your wedding through your wedding photos.

Bridget and Kevin chose The Atrium to host their celebration, as a perfect option for their wedding vision (as you will see in the images)!

The journey starts at the Journeyman:

The Kimpton Journeyman Hotel in Milwaukee’s Third Ward is a fantastic place to get ready for your wedding. I am a firm believer in splurging on your getting-ready location. Not only will you appreciate the comfort and style on your wedding day, but it will also show up in a lot of your wedding photos. The Journeyman has beautiful rooms and an incredible and stylish lobby that will give you (and your photographer) a lot to work with. The Third Ward is no slouch either - offering Cream City brick walls and alleys and lots of extraordinary architecture.

Bridget and her stunning dress looked fabulous in all these spaces. We used the lobby and the brick alley. It was all just right there which allowed us to make up a little time and get back on schedule heading into the rest of the day!

The Atrium - Shorewood’s coolest wedding venue!

The Atrium promises to “help you throw the best party in Milwaukee!” That’s a tall order, but if you read the glowing reviews from their couples, they seem to be delivering on their promise. Iconic yellow bricks and a stunning second-floor Greenhouse greet you when you pull up at the Shorewood venue. I went straight upstairs to the rooftop Garden and Greenhouse to catch up with Kevin - the man of the hour. He was already locked in with his bow tie and vintage Nike’s so we grabbed a few picks and then it was time for the ceremony!

The Rooftop Garden Ceremony

The Atrium’s Rooftop Garden is perfect for intimate ceremonies (it can handle up to 50 guests), and with its Greenhouse enclosed bar area, it’s ideal for cocktail hour too. I LOVE it for photos all day long and even into the night! Bridget and Kevin chose the garden for their intimate wedding - it was the perfect size! The couple saved their first look for the ceremony, and there were lots of emotions to go around - Especially when they read their personal vows and then afterward as their new connection and life together all sank in! The Garden was gorgeous and the Greenhouse is such a lovely backdrop for the wedding photos!

The New Couple

After the ceremony, it was time for photos. Bridget and Kevin kicked it off in the rooftop garden, taking a few moments to enjoy being married. We stopped by the Main space on the first floor so they could see their setup and we could grab a few photos there before it was filled with guests! In addition to all the great photo locations in The Atrium, across the street, the landscaped grounds of Atwater School offer even more options. We crossed the road to enjoy the late spring blooms as we captured lots of emotional moments and lots of laughter!

The Reception

Without a first look, the couple only joined the end of their cocktail hour before everyone moved downstairs to the Atrium’s Main Room. The Main Room features a comfortable room for up to 200+, a built-in sound system, an expansive bar, and a stunning ceramic feature wall with perimeter uplighting. The Main Space of the Atrium is beautiful during the daytime, with its large sunroof letting in natural light. Bridget and Kevin filled it with emotional speeches, delicious food and drinks, and lots of love.

Golden Hours

After dinner and toasts, I brought Bridget and Kevin back to the Rooftop Garden for a quick Golden Hour Session. It was a little hazy, but the sun still broke through with some romantic mood lighting. These quiet moments after all the timeline items have been accomplished are fun - the stress is off, and all that remains is a couple deeply in love enjoying their special day together. Bridget and Kevin enjoyed a private toast in the Garden before heading back in to eat cake and party!

Cake and First dance

Miastav Cakes understood their delicious assignment - and Kevin and Bridget enjoyed their cake with a crowd of spectators cheering them on. Then it was time for their first dance. As the light outside fades, the Main Space of the Atrium remains beautiful - its uplighting and wall of Christmas lights creating a romantic and fun mood. It’s perfect for emotional first dances while anticipating the beat dropping after the couple takes their bow and the dance floor is open to all!

Party Time

Party time is one of my favorite parts of wedding days. People are full of good food and cheer, and they're celebrating and dancing! Sound by Designs’ close partnership with the Atrium pays off as the integrated sound system and lighting help deliver on their promise to “throw the best party in Milwaukee!”

There's something magical about that moment when the formalities wrap up and the real party begins! You can feel the collective exhale as everyone is released from programmed moments and freed to drink and dance! The combination of good food, flowing drinks, and that shared joy creates such an electric atmosphere.

The Rooftop Garden At night!

As we reached the end of the night, Bridget and Kevin stole away to the Rooftop Garden one more time. The Rooftop is just as beautiful at night as it is during the day. One of the best parts of being a Milwaukee wedding photographer is spending all these amazing moments with amazing couples on one of the most amazing days of their lives.

✨Closing Time✨

Bridget and Kevin’s wedding was incredible from start to finish. It was filled with thoughtful details, meaningful moments, and an abundance of love. Surrounded by family and friends who came to celebrate them, the day was truly filled with joy and connection.

🥂I wish them both a lifetime of love, laughter, and moments that matter together🥂
