Portraits + Branding Sessions: Lanie
People are amazing. How cool is it that my job is literally to hang out with amazing people and document their unique fabulousness in photograghs that they then can use to more effectively tell their story? (Spoiler: It’s so cool!)#meta
Lanie is one of my most fascinating friends. She is colorful and honest, says the hard things outloud, and is always learning and exploring. We share a love of the Enneagram (I am a Seven and a Half) and she is teaching me about Astrology (Lanie calls me “the most Aries of aries”). She is also a small business owner who specialized in color analysis and personal styling.
Lanie wants to help people to look and feel their best - colorful and confident. Her specific personality and taste are a significant part of what she shares with her clients. She wanted photos for her website rebrand that would convey her full-colorful personality to potential clients.
For our portrait session we chose two locations: Vennture Brew and the beautiful new murals in East Tosa. (You should totally check out Vennture - they have amazing coffee + beer!)

Since Lanie’s services might be a newer concept to many people, I asked her to help us understand how she helps her clients:

I believe great style isn’t about trends, or distracting, or camouflaging. It’s about making you look like the most authentic version of YOU. I work to provide a kinder, gentler, and more sustainable approach to fashion, shopping, and self-care. I do this by providing concrete tools for how to create a more cohesive wardrobe based on color and line concepts. As a Sci/ART color analyst, I’m able to find the best color palette to complement your natural skin, hair, and eye color.
I’m also able to analyze the unique shapes and lines that occur in your body in order to eliminate some of the guesswork associated with dressing “for your body.” In short, I’m helping you find the colors and lines that naturally occur in your physical self and teaching you how to mirror them in your clothing. And we’re so much more than our physical bodies, right? In addition to finding what works with the outer you, I’m really excited about discovering what resonates with the inner you as well.
My new (entirely virtual!) Power Color service is like a combination between an intuitive reading and a personality typing session. It’s designed to help you find one or two colors that speak to your individual, unique power based on your enneagram type, Myers-Briggs code, or even your astrological signs. Your power colors might calm you, they might stimulate growth, or they might just be a physical reminder of what makes you awesome. Color speaks to our souls.

I love how Lanie has used the images on her website too - clean, colorful and beautiful. Also - I love the way she has incorporated her logo and the subtle astrological feel. It totally fits her and will definitely help drawing the right clients to her work
Of all the Tosa Murals - I think the one on the side of the Nobleman are my favorite. They are so cool, that I wish I had hair so I could go there. The color really grabs your attention, and they are a perfect fit for Lanie’s servies. She is a color ninja who knows exactly how to identify the perfect colors for every person and personlity.
