Jessie + Dan's Milwaukee Public Library Engagement Session!

I love the Central Library - the main branch of the Milwaukee Public Library! Maybe it’s because it combines several of my obsessions (books, Milwaukee, and stunning architecture)—but whatever the reason, our Central Library is a literal and literary treasure. The fact that we all get to enjoy it just because we are lucky enough to live in Milwaukee is fantastic. Milwaukee is an amazing city.

I got connected to the couple through Heather Farr- one of Milwaukee’s best wedding planners. But once the introduction was made, I was so excited to work with them on their wedding and engagement session (Heather always works with amazing humans)!

✨Inside Milwaukee's Central Library✨

Whenever a couple suggests a shoot at Central Library, I immediately know I’m going to like them—and Dan and Jessie proved me right when we met up for their engagement session! Since 1898, the Central Library has offered some of the most amazing interior architecture in all of Milwaukee. Built of Bedford limestone, its design is a fusion of French and Italian Renaissance styles - and the results are breathtaking. It is a fabulous place for engagement photos and wedding photos - especially when you need to plan around Wisconsin’s unpredictable weather.

We used the arches, stairs, and vaulted ceiling as a backdrop for our photo adventure there!

🌿Outside Milwaukee's Central Library!🌿

Just outside the Library, things are also beautiful! I use the landscaped Island in Wisconsin Ave for Sunset photos quite often, and the Wisconsin Club - even outside the fence - makes for a lovely backdrop as well! I love the view down Wisconsin Ave that captures the statue and some of Milwaukee’s classic tall buildings as well. The best part of this spot is that it works for both Sunrise and Sunset shoots for most of the year!

Brewery District: Zilber Park!

After the Central Library, we headed over a few blocks to Zilber Park in the Brewery District. This part of Milwaukee is fantastic for photos with landmarks on every corner. Zilber Park is a favorite of mine with its Rust and Rock wall and cool urban meets nature vibes.

Brewery District: Pabst + The Milwaukee Skyline

The Milwaukee skyline is an underrated treasure. Still in the Brewery District, we hit up my 2nd favorite parking structure in MKE (yes, I ranked them) for an eye-level view of the famous Pabst Sign, as well as twilight views of the Brewery District, Deer District, and the MKE skyline. With fog rolling in, the skyline felt extra romantic and mysterious! While I loved our whole shoot, I felt like the connection between Dan and Jessie felt especially deep eight stories up, surrounded by fog and Milwaukee.

Milwaukee Love for Milwaukee Lovers!

Dan & Jessie’s engagement session was a true Milwaukee classic! We started inside the iconic Milwaukee Public Library, wandered the streets into the Brewery District with stops at Zilber Park and the Pabst sign, before we wrapped things up with a skyline view from my second-favorite parking garage (yes, I keep a ranking). The twilight skyline views over the Deer District were unbeatable.

And the best part? We got to do it all again for their wedding day at Turner Hall Ballroom (which will turn up on the blog someday soon!)
